2009 Season

Duck Hunter Shoots Angel

by Mitch Albom

Directed by Marcus Willis

January 23,24,25,28,29,30,31, February 1

A rare comedy with a surprisingly heartfelt lesson. Duck Hunter Shoots Angel is the uproarious story of two bumbling Alabama brothers who have never shot a duck but think they shot an angel. As they lament their fates in a murky swamp, they are chased by a cynical tabloid journalist and his reluctant photographer, who dont believe any of ituntil feathers, wings and a tiara are discovered along the way. The play hysterically interweaves a love story, sibling rivalry, tawdry media, race relations and cultural stereotypes as the chase to find the angel builds to a crescendo in the swamp. Ultimately a sweet allegory about redemption, written by the best-selling author of Tuesdays with Morrie, The Five People You Meet In Heaven and For One More Day.

Enchanted April

by Matthew Barber

Directed by Anita Havel

April 24,25,26,29,30, May 1,2,3

In this charming romantic comedy, two frustrated London housewives decide to rent a villa in Italy for a holiday away from their bleak marriages. They recruit two very different English women to share the cost. There, among the wisteria blossoms and in the Mediterranean sunshine, all four bloom again, rediscovering themselves in ways that they--and we--could never have expected.

A NICE FAMILY GATHERING is a story about a man who loved his wife so much, he almost told her. Its Thanksgiving Day and the first family gathering at the Lundeen household since the Patriarch died. At the gathering, Dad comes back as a ghost with a mission; to tell his wife he loved her, something he neglected to tell her while he was alive. After all, they were only married for 41 years. Unfortunately, she cant hear or see him. The trouble begins when Mom invites a date for dinner.

The Beaux Stratagem

by Thornton Wilder and Ken Ludwig

Directed by Jonne Thornton

October 2,3,4,7,8,9,10,11

In the summer of 2004, the Estate of Thornton Wilder asked Ken Ludwig, author of Moon Over Buffalo, to complete a play that Wilder had begun in 1939 and never finished. It was an adaptation of The Beaux Stratagem, a classic piece of late Restoration comedy written in 1707 by the British playwright George Farquhar. The play tells the story of two young bucks who, having spent all their money by living too well, leave London and roam from town to town in search of love and fortune. Naturally, complications ensue!

All showtimes are 8:00 p.m. for evenings and 2:30 p.m. for Sunday matinees
